Inside the Animal Kingdom’s Asia is the fictional town of Anandapur. The Maharajah Jungle Trek takes guests just outside this village and into the ruins of a former sultan’s palace. This place has a story of its own, which we will address one day in the future here, but for today, we’re focusing on the aviary. The palace has been worn away due to years and years of weathering and what is now the bird sanctuary was once the grand ballroom inside the palace. When walking through the aviary be sure to look down because on the ground you will see the decorative tile flooring that once graced the ballroom. There are also formal columns left to be seen in the middle of the space. Of course you have to look up, down, and all around inside the aviary because it is filled with a variety of beautiful birds. A descriptive chart is available for guests to pick up to help identify the different types. This is another of the many locations in the Animal Kingdom that you want to slow down and enjoy your surroundings.
