Magical Blogorail – Memorable Character Experiences in the Park

Welcome to those of you joining me from Adventures of a Disney Princess and those of you who have just hopped aboard.  I am the 3rd stop on our Magical Blogorail. Normally you’ll find us on the third Friday of the month with the Magical Blogorail Red but we switched things up this month and we hope you’ll visit us again soon!

With so many options for meeting the characters in the four Walt Disney World theme parks guests are bound to have a very memorable experience at one point or another. For me it was a rainy day turned sunny. Back in 2009 I was finishing up my Master’s Degree and while on our annual Spring Break trip I received an email telling me that I had met certain requirements, meaning I would be graduating the very next month. Talk about a reason to celebrate! So the trip became all about celebrating the completion of my Master’s.

Unfortunately the morning we were touring The Studios it began pouring rain so to escape the deluge we escaped into the Magic of Disney Animation so we could participate in the drawing class and try to wait out the rain. Imagine our surprise when we walked in and found  all of the characters that normally meet you around the hat hanging out inside here as well!

The very first character I ran into was my blue buddy Stitch which was an awesome surprise and totally caught me off guard.

Surprise!!

What you have to understand is that we were the ONLY people in there. I still don’t know how that happened. When it rains, people tend to go wherever there’s an indoor attraction, but they evidently hadn’t made it over here yet.

Next up was Minnie, just hanging around, so we chatted about my Celebration Button.

And then there was my other favorite (mainly because I think I’m the human equivalent of him sometimes…) Donald Duck! It was so relaxed in there at that time that he was just hanging out on the bench.

And finally, believe it or not, there wasn’t a soul in line to meet Sorcerer Mickey. Now how often do you see it like that?

Very shortly after we had our encounters with all the characters, the crowds starting making their way inside. But what a time we had in those few moments with each character, all on our own. So word to the wise, I don’t know if this would happen again, but if it starts raining, especially early in the morning when the characters are supposed to be at the hat, you never know what you might find in the Magic of Disney Animation!

Thank you for joining me today.  Your next stop on the Magical Blogorail Loop is Walt Disney World: It’s Not Just For Kids.

Great tip about meeting the characters at Magic of Disney Animation when it rains. Later in the day, when it rains, they actually have some rare characters parked there. Got to meet Max (Goofy’s Son) inside Magic of Disney Animation!

Great photos!! Stitch only comes out at Disneyland on Christmas Eve. It would be nice if they had him out more regularly. I had fun seeing all your character photos.

Awesome photos, and I love hearing about secluded times with the characters! Makes my day! Thanks for sharing!

How sweet! I miss the Mickey on Hollywood Boulevard!

Stitch was my first character too. You have to keep going and collect photos with every character – will likely mean a lot trips to Disney World, but oh well, what we do for the party!

LOL! King Louie was my first ever character meeting. It was our honeymoon and my first trip ever in 2003. Andy has me on video saying “if Stitch is here I’m hanging out with that guy!”. And lo and behold, later that morning, there he was in front of the castle! I think this is a new topic we should cover… First characters!

What a great story! It’s so nice that you had a few “private” magical moments with all the characters.
